Project Vision: Modern Analyst Knowledge Appraiser

Lead Business Analyst:

The goal of the Modern Analyst Knowledge Appraiser (MAKA) project is to make freely available, as a gift to the business analyst community, under copyright to Modern Analyst Media LLC, a configurable Knowledge Appraisal and Assessment application that has been inspired by the business analysis profession but designed to be flexible enough to accommodate a wide variety of technical and leadership oriented core competencies.

This tool would be available to "use for free" for registered members of ModernAnalyst.com.

Our vision is also to make this a "live" project. That is, provide registered members of the ModernAnalyst.com community the opportunity to experience and see a project unfolding with all its challenges and rewards.

Community feedback is welcome and encouraged!

Adrian,

I have in writing some of the sections for the Appraiser tool business case and I wanted to get your feedback.

I will elude to the project scope within the Product Stakeholder Analysis section - where I will begin to state the needs that these people will have of the system.

Before I do that - I wanted to get your feedback on the Vision - it's poorly structured ... but I wanted to see if the jist is there.

Also the solution options.

OK - I totally get you now. I was not thinking big enough. I remember you writing the expandable nature of it ... slipped my mind however.

I'm going to set back and write the vision/case ... post it for your evaluation. is ok?

Possible requirement .... I see the need for a DTD and a loader. The questions can be written in an excel file using a template that we design....saved as a CSV then loaded into the module ...now the tool can teest what ever you want it to test. There woulld also be a way for the admin to add questions using the interface.

The entity model .... I will Viso a high level model and include in into the business case.

WOW I am impressed.

For the project, here is the process I intend to follow. I was planning on using object oriented analysis ... if that is ok.

Write SMALL Business Case/Vision

Stakeholder:

Create an assessment tool which registered users could use to asses their Business Analysis (BA) skills and knowledge in various areas and competencies. The tool would generate a personalized profile showcasing the areas of strength, weakness, suggested steps for improvement, etc.

So why a "live" project?

Well... we wanted to give our readers an example of what a business analyst does and the types of artifacts used by a business analyst.

I couldn't think of a better way to do this then through the use of a "live" project.

We hope this is going to help many of our readers who are junior analysts or who are looking to begin their career in business analysis.
